Abstract:
The present invention comprises: an insertion part (11) which has a channel for inserting a treatment instrument and is inserted into a subject; a variable-rigidity part (112) which is provided in the insertion part (11) and is capable of partly changing the rigidity of the insertion part (11); a shape analysis unit (304) which analyses the shape of the insertion part; a treatment determination unit (306) which detects forthcoming treatment using the treatment instrument; a bend detection unit (305) which detects the formation of a bend in the insertion part (11) on the basis of a detection result from the shape analysis unit (304); and a rigidity control unit (302) which controls the rigidity of the variable-rigidity part (112), wherein when the shape analysis unit (304) detects the formation of a bend in the insertion part (11), and the treatment determination unit (306) detects forthcoming treatment using the treatment instrument, the rigidity control unit (302) performs control to increase the rigidity of the variable-rigidity part (112) at a position on the proximal side within the bend.
