Abstract:
Provided are an endoscope system (10) and a method for operating the same which are configured: so that, when reproducing a video which has been saved during an endoscope inspection, it is possible to carry out reproduction in which a portion to be closely observed by a user is enhanced; and so that it is possible to reproduce an enhanced image based on illumination light of various spectra. A normal light video comprising normal light images based on normal light, and a special light video comprising special light images based on special light, are saved in a video storage memory (103) as archival videos. If there is a video reproduction instruction, the normal light video from the archival videos is regarded as a normal light video for reproduction display, a display region is set with respect to the normal light video for reproduction display, and the special light video from the archival videos is displayed as a special light video for reproduction display in a section that has been set as the display region.
