Abstract:
Disclosed is an engine four-stroke braking system, which employs a dedicated exhaust braking rocker arm (22) or an integrated exhaust braking rocker arm to generate an exhaust valve motion for engine braking. Conventional air intake and exhaust rocker arms are used to generate the same air intake and exhaust valve lifts as when the engine is ignited. A brake air intake rocker arm (32) is added to open an air intake valve of the engine during an expansion stroke of the engine, and a brake air intake valve lift of the engine is generated. Therefore, the amount of air intake introduced into an engine cylinder is increased, the rising resistance and exhaust back pressure of a cylinder piston in the exhaust stroke of an engine are increased, pump pressure work and the rotational speed of a turbocharger are increased, and the braking power of the engine is improved. Further disclosed are a braking method for an engine and an engine braking valve lift system.
