Abstract:
A leak detection system of an evaporative purge system including a fuel tank (1) and a canister (13) comprises a jet pump (8) for introducing atmosphere into the fuel tank (1) by utilizing a return flow of excess fuel being pressure-fed to an internal combustion engine, an internal pressure measuring means (15), and a fuel volume detecting means (18). If a holding pressure measurement under a state where the evaporative purge system is closed after air is supplied for a specified time from a pressure applying means is lower than a reduced pressure measurement determined from an applied pressure measurement, an air volume and a leak hole diameter, a decision is made that a leak is present.
