Abstract:
This catalyst for combusting hydrocarbons in an exhaust gas contains, as a main component, a perovskite composite oxide that is represented by general formula ABO3; the A site contains at least one element that is selected from the group consisting of Ba, Sr and Ca; the B site contains Zr and at least one of Ru and Rh; among the elements in the B site, the molar ratio of Zr is 0.8 or more, while the molar ratio of Ru and/or Rh is 0.005 or more; and the specific surface area is 5.0 m2/g or more.
