Abstract:
A case (31) accommodates a canister (21) and is provided inside a fuel tank (10). The case (31) shields the canister (21) from fuel inside the fuel tank (10). The case (31) forms a gap into which fuel can flow between the case (31) and the outer surface of the canister (21). A failure diagnosis means performs a failure diagnosis relating to the airtightness of the canister (21) by means of a pressure change inside the canister (21) after the interior of the canister (21) is set to a negative pressure lower than atmospheric pressure. A fuel detection means (54) detects the presence or absence of fuel in contact with the canister (21) inside the case (31). If the presence of fuel is detected by the fuel detection means (54), a fuel discharge means (61) discharges the fuel from inside the case (31) to inside the fuel tank (10). The failure diagnosis means performs the failure diagnosis in a state in which the presence of fuel is not detected by the fuel detection means (54).
