Abstract:
A case (31) houses a canister (21) and is provided inside a fuel tank (10). The case (31) shields the canister (21) from fuel in the fuel tank (10). Between the case (31) and the outer surface of the canister (21), a gap into which fuel can flow is formed. A fault diagnosis means applies a positive pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure or a negative pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure into the canister (21). The fault diagnosis means performs a diagnosis pertaining to the airtightness of the canister (21) according to the pressure change in the canister (21) before and after the application is started or after the application is finished.
