Abstract:
This fastening device is for fastening, by rotating using the rotary driving force of a drive shaft, a fastening member to a fastening position, the fastening device being characterized by comprising a rack and pinion mechanism and a rotary shaft that is attached to the drive shaft with the rack and pinion mechanism therebetween and has, at the tip thereof, a connecting part to which the fastening member connects, wherein: the rack and pinion mechanism has a base, a rack that is movably attached to the base, a pinion that is rotatably provided to the base and engages with the rack, a propelling mechanism that propels the rack in one of the movement directions of the rack, and a sensor that is for detecting that the rack has moved from a prescribed position on the base; and one of the base and the pinion is fixed to the drive shaft, and the other of the base and the pinion is fixed to the rotary shaft.
