Disclosed in embodiments of the present application is a fault code block processing method, which is applied to a first communication device using FlexE fine-granularity technology. The first communication device may acquire a first fgBU, the first fgBU being composed of a plurality of first outer-layer code blocks, and the plurality of first outer-layer code blocks comprising an outer-layer S code block, a plurality of outer-layer D code blocks, and a first outer-layer E code block. The first outer-layer E code block is used for bearing data of a first inner-layer code block. After the first fgBU is obtained, the first inner-layer code block is recovered according to the first fgBU, and is configured to be a first inner-layer E code block. The situation that error propagation may be caused if the first inner-layer code block is not processed is taken into account. Therefore, in the embodiments of the present application, after the first communication device obtains the first fgBU, the first inner-layer code block corresponding to the first outer-layer E code block can be configured to be the first inner-layer E code block, thereby avoiding error propagation caused by errors of the first inner-layer code block.
