Abstract:
Provided are a fault recovery method and apparatus, which are used for solving the problem of a failure to call a terminal device caused by a fault of a UPF network element. The method comprises: a P-CSCF network element sending, by means of a first UPF network element, an invitation message for calling a terminal device to the terminal device; if it is determined that an invitation response message from the terminal device is not received within a preset duration, the P-CSCF network element sending a first request message, the first request message being used for confirming whether there is a network element having a fault; and when a first response message that comprises fault indication information is received, the P-CSCF network element initiating a disaster recovery flow for re-registering the terminal device and getting same online. In the above flow, during the process of calling a terminal device, a P-CSCF network element detects whether a network element that serves the terminal device has a fault, so as to realize fast detection and perform disaster recovery, such that a failure to call the terminal device caused by a fault of a UPF network element can be avoided.
