Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a fermented milk and a polysaccharide capable of inhibiting cancer cachexia. A fermented milk having a cancer-cachexia-inhibiting action according to one aspect of the present invention has Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus as an active ingredient. A polysaccharide having a cancer cachexia-inhibiting action according to another aspect of the present invention is produced from Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus. Furthermore, this Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus preferably is Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus OLL1073R-1 (accession no.: FERM BP-10741).
