Abstract:

In a composition which comprises reinforcing fibers (A) comprising carbon fibers, resin particles (B) and a matrix resin (C), spherical resin particles having an average particle diameter of 12 to 70 μm are used as the resin particles (B). In a composition which comprises reinforcing fibers (A) comprising carbon fibers, resin particles (B) and a matrix resin (C), spherical small resin particles (B1) that have smaller particle diameters than the average fiber diameter of the reinforcing fibers (A) and spherical large resin particles (B2) having particle diameters equal to or larger than the average fiber diameter of the reinforcing fibers (A) are used as the resin particles (B). The reinforcing fibers (A) may be particularly composed of carbon fibers. The resin particles (B) may be particularly composed of polyamide resin particles. The average particle diameter of the resin particles (B) may be 1- to 10-fold larger than the average fiber diameter of the reinforcing fibers (A). In the composition, the content ratio of the resin particles (B) may be 10% by weight or less (e.g., 1 to 5% by weight) relative to the total amount of the resin particles (B) and the matrix resin (C). Even when the amount of the resin particles added is small, a sufficient reinforcing function associated with the reinforcing fibers can be achieved.
