Abstract:
An electronic device comprises a fingerprint sensor disposed on a display, and the fingerprint sensor may comprise: an aperture that adjusts the amount of light incident on a lens disposed in a sensing area of the fingerprint sensor; and a half-wave plate disposed so as to at least partially overlap the sensing area. The half-wave plate is disposed in the sensing area so that a second component complementary to a first component has a phase difference of substantially a half wavelength with the first component. A processor may: use the fingerprint sensor to acquire the first component generated on the basis of light that is at least partially reflected by an external object and is not transmitted through the half-wave plate, and acquire the second component generated on the basis of light that is at least partially reflected by the external object and is transmitted through the half-wave plate; generate a phase image on the basis of a differential component between the first and second components; and determine whether the external object is a three-dimensional shape pattern on the basis of the phase image, and perform a designated operation on the basis of a comparison result between the phase image and registered fingerprint authentication data of a user.
