Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: fluorescent A2SiF6:Mn having high fluorescence intensity and reliability; a high-luminance light-emitting device including this fluorescent substance; and a process for producing this fluorescent substance.
[Solution] A process for producing a fluorescent fluoride represented by the general formula A2SiF6:Mn (element A is one or more alkali metal elements comprising potassium), characterized by including the step of preparing an aqueous solution which comprises a solvent and, dissolved therein, both element A and fluorine and the step of adding, to the aqueous solution, solid silicon dioxide and a manganese (Mn) compound which supplies manganese having a valance other than +7. The process is further characterized in that the amount of the manganese compound to be added is in such a range that the fluorescent fluoride has an Mn content of 0.1-1.5 mass%, and that as the silicon dioxide dissolves in the aqueous solution, precipitation of the fluorescent fluoride proceeds.
