Abstract:
The present invention provides a fluorescent member wherein a phosphor layer is not likely to be separated. This fluorescent member is provided with: a substrate; and a phosphor layer that is formed on the substrate, and contains an inorganic wavelength conversion material. The phosphor layer comprises: a matrix body that is in contact with at least a part of the inorganic wavelength conversion material, while containing aluminum oxide that fixes the inorganic wavelength conversion material to the base material; and an impregnation body with which voids in the matrix body are impregnated, and which contains a polymerization product of a silicic acid compound. At least one of the matrix body and the impregnation body contains at least one metal that is selected from among alkali metals and alkaline earth metals.
