Abstract:
Provided are a fluoroolefin production method and a fluoroethane production method having high selectivity for fluoroethane which is the target product. The production methods according to the present disclosure each include a step for obtaining, from fluoroethylene, a product including a fluoroethane represented by CX1X2FCX3X4X5 (wherein X1, X2, X3, X4, and X5 are identical or different from each other, and each represent a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, or a chlorine atom, and at least one of X1, X2, X3, X4, and X5 represents a hydrogen atom) through a reaction within a reactor in the presence of a catalyst. Said reaction is conducted by introducing a material gas containing the fluoroethylene into the reactor. The water content in the material gas is 150 mass ppm or less with respect to the total mass of the material gas.
