Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a forward osmosis membrane element and a forward osmosis membrane module capable of efficiently causing water to permeate from a low-concentration side to a high-concentration side using a forward osmosis phenomenon. [Solution] The forward osmosis membrane module 1 comprises a forward osmosis membrane element 3 spirally housed in a case 2. The forward osmosis membrane element 3 has a membrane leaf 31 on which a first flow path 33 to which salt water W1 is supplied is formed, and a main pipe line 30 to which fresh water W2 is supplied, and which has an outflow hole 302 through which the fresh water W2 flows out to a second flow path 35 formed in the gap between adjacent membrane leaves 31. The fresh water W2 flowing out to the second flow path 35 flows into the first flow path 33 because of a forward osmosis phenomenon caused by the difference in concentration from the salt water W1 flowing through the first flow path 33, and becomes mixed water W3 which can be discharged out of the system.
