Abstract:
A friction brake device has: a first gear member (18R) having friction surfaces (18RSI, 18RSO) on both sides; second and third gear members (16R, 12), each having a friction surface (46R, 24S) on one side surface; and actuators (62R, 64R, 66R) that relatively displace the first to third gear members along an axis of rotation (20), and frictionally engage the corresponding friction surfaces. The first to third gear members constitute a planet gear mechanism that rotates around the axis of rotation. The gear member (12), which functions as a ring gear member, is a brake rotor (12) that is rotatably supported around the axis of rotation by a stationary support member (32).
