Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of suitably reducing the consumption of a second fuel, in a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine capable of selectively using a first fuel, with properties that inhibit the adsorption of exhaust gas components by an exhaust gas purifying catalyst, and the second fuel, with properties that do not inhibit the adsorption of exhaust gas components by an exhaust gas purifying catalyst. In order to address this problem, the fuel injection system in the internal combustion engine first provides the second fuel to the internal combustion engine when the exhaust gas purification catalyst is in a low-temperature state, and then switches from the second fuel to the first fuel before the exhaust gas purification catalyst increases to an activation temperature.
