Abstract:
Provided are a gas cutting method for a steel material and a method for producing a steel material that enable efficient cutting of a piece of steel material to be cut among pieces of steel material arranged close to each other, without damaging the pieces of steel material adjacent thereto. One piece of steel material and another piece of steel material are arranged close to each other, a preheating region is set in the one piece of steel material at a position such that a preheating flame will not touch the other piece of steel material, and the preheating flame is applied to the preheating region to preheat same; next, the one piece of steel material is gas cut by moving cutting oxygen from the preheating region beyond the boundary between the one piece of steel material and the other piece of steel material until the cutting oxygen advances to the other piece of steel material. Preferably the preheating region is set at a position such that the outer edge of the preheating flame is separated from the other piece of steel material by at least 2 mm.
