Abstract:
The present invention is a gas generator of which an outer-shell container is formed of a pressurized gas bottle and a gas generation compartment housing which are blocked from each other by a blocking member. Between the gas generation compartment and the pressurized gas compartment, a gas inflow compartment having a gas discharge opening is disposed, and the gas inflow compartment and the gas generation compartment are separated by a dividing wall having a destruction means. The dividing wall includes a communication hole providing communication between the gas generation compartment and the gas inflow compartment, with an outer peripheral edge surface of the dividing wall being abutted on an inner peripheral wall surface of the outer-shell container so as to be movable in an axial direction, and is disposed opposite the blocking member at an interval. The destruction means has an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of an opening portion blocked by the blocking member, and is formed on the dividing wall opposite the blocking member at an interval. Upon activation, the dividing wall moves in the axial direction while reducing the volume of the gas inflow compartment, and then comes to a stop upon hitting a step portion or a protruding portion formed toward the gas generation compartment with respect to the gas discharge opening, whereby the destruction means destructs the blocking member and opens a gas discharge path from the pressurized gas bottle, and pressurized gas and combustion gas from the gas generation compartment are discharged via the gas discharge opening.
