Abstract:
A gas generator (1A) is provided with an igniter (40) mounted on one end section of a housing, a sealed container (60) positioned inside the housing, and a coil spring (80) interposed between one end section of the housing and the sealed container (60). The sealed container (60) melts or bursts due to the igniter (40) operating. A gas-generating agent (70) is contained in the sealed container (60). The coil spring (80) is for fixing the sealed container (60) within the housing. The coil spring (80) is positioned substantially coaxially with respect to the ignition unit (41) of the igniter (40) so as to surround the ignition unit (41) without any other member being interposed between the coil spring (80) and the ignition unit (41), so that the coil spring (80) restricts the degree by which a cup body (41c) included in the ignition unit (41) opens when the cup body (41c) tears open.
