Abstract:

Provided are a compact gate valve having high durability and a method for installing the gate valve. This gate valve is provided with: a valve box 12 for accommodating a valve body; and a sealing band 13 for covering, in a sealed state, the gap between a pair of fluid pipes W and the valve box 12, wherein the valve box 12 has a pair of protruding pipe parts 12B protruding in a pipe axis direction X from a main body of the valve box, the sealing band 13 is configured by a plurality of split members Ba in which a pair of main body parts B1 that cover, in a sealed state, respective fluid pipes W1, W2 and the protruding pipe parts 12B, and a connection part B3 that connects the pair of main body parts B1 are integrally formed, and which are split in the circumferential direction of the fluid pipe W.
