Abstract:
A microdroplet/bubble generation device comprising a slit and a row of a plurality of microchannels, wherein: a continuous phase or a dispersed phase is fed to the slit; an end of the slit, a feed port for the other of the continuous phase or dispersed phase, and a discharge port are connected to the plurality of microchannels; the plurality of microchannels have, adjacent to or in the vicinity of the site of connection with the slit, a constricted part at which the cross-sectional area of the channel is locally reduced; the continuous phase and the dispersed phase meeting at the site of connection flow into the constricted part; the dispersed phase is sheared in the constricted part with the flow of the continuous phase acting as a driving force; bubbles or droplets of the dispersed phase are generated; and the generated product is recovered from the discharge port.
