Abstract:
In order to reduce the number of man-hours for assembly while achieving a desired locking function with a single spring member, this glove compartment lock device comprises: a base member that is mounted to the glove compartment and that has a shaft extending in a prescribed direction; a knob member that is supported in the base member to be able to rotate between a closed position and an opened position around the shaft; an arm member that is supported by the base member in a central portion thereof in the longitudinal direction so as to be able to swing, that has one end abutting the knob member, and that swings between a locked position and a lock released position for the glove compartment; and a spring member that is fit over the shaft so as to be able to rotate, that locks with the knob member at one end, that locks with the other end of the arm member at the other end, and that generates a biasing force to rotate the knob member to the closed position and to swing the arm member to the locked position. The rotational direction around the shaft for the one end of the spring member to cause the knob member to rotate to the closed position and the rotational direction around the shaft for the other end of the spring member to cause the arm member to swing to the locked position are in mutually opposite directions.
