A gradient eddy current compensation method and system for magnetic resonance imaging. The method comprises: collecting echo signals of a preset sampling pulse sequence (S1), the preset sampling pulse sequence being used for measuring eddy current data; performing data processing on the echo signals by using a preset algorithm, and obtaining eddy current component parameters by means of calculation (S2); generating a pre-emphasis waveform according to the eddy current component parameters (S3); and performing eddy current compensation on a magnetic resonance imaging gradient pulse by means of the pre-emphasis waveform to obtain an expected target gradient waveform (S4). According to the method, no additional hardware device is required in the process of testing and compensation; the method for analyzing data by an echo position has strong anti-noise capability, and high stability; the operation is convenient, the signal acquisition speed is fast, and measurement and compensation of gradient eddy current can be accurately realized.
