Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to prevent instances of erroneous detection in hand drying apparatuses due to water drops clinging to the wall surface of hand insertion parts. This hand drying apparatus comprises: a case 2 provided with a nozzle 5 for discharging airflow to a hand insertion part 3 into which hands can be placed; a high-pressure airflow generation device 4; a first detection electrode 6; a second detection electrode 7 provided closer to the hand insertion part 3 than the first detection electrode 6 is; a water determination unit 21 for determining the presence or absence of water drops clinging to the wall surface of the hand insertion part 3 on the basis of a detection value of the second detection electrode 7; a hand determination unit 22 for determining the presence or absence of a hand in the hand insertion part 3 on the basis of a detection value of the first detection electrode 6 and determination results of the water determination unit 21; and an operation control unit 23 for controlling the operation of the high-pressure airflow generation device 4 on the basis of the determination results of the hand determination unit 22.
