A heat exchange type ventilation device (100) is provided with: a box-shaped housing (1) in which an air supply channel (23) and an exhaust channel (24) are formed; an air supply blower (3) disposed in the air supply channel (23); an exhaust blower (4) disposed in the exhaust channel (24); a heat exchange element (2) that is disposed in the housing (1) so as to be inserted and removed and that causes heat exchange between air flowing through the air supply channel (23) and air flowing through the exhaust channel (24); and a first retaining section (33) and a second retaining section (37) that are disposed in the housing (1) so as to sandwich the heat exchange element (2) from both sides and that retain the heat exchange element (2). On the first retaining section (33) and/or the second retaining section (37) that are disposed so as to sandwich the heat exchange element (2), a convex section that can make contact with the heat exchange element (2) and a concave section that is separated from the heat exchange element (2) when the convex section is in contact with the heat exchange element (2) are formed along the direction of insertion/removal of the heat exchange element (2).
