Title:
HEAT-RESISTANT CROSSLINKED POLYESTER FIBER AND FIBER CORD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2006/118143
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are a polyester fiber and fiber cord having so excellent heat resistance that no heat fusion occurs at high temperatures. The polyester fiber and fiber cord maintain desirable characteristics such as dimensional stability, high strength and durability. Such polyester fiber and fiber cord are useful as a material for a belt or carcass member of tires. A fiber or fiber cord having excellent heat resistance can be obtained by impregnating a polyester fiber or fiber cord composed of a copolymerized polyester with a compound having at least two or more unsaturated bonds, and then causing a crosslinking reaction of the compound in the inner part and the surface layer of the polyester fiber or fiber cord by irradiating the polyester fiber or fiber cord with an electron beam or a &gammad ray.
