Provided are a heat transport apparatus and a heat transport method with which nitrous oxide can be used as an environmentally friendly energy source. The present invention is provided with: a refrigerant circulation system (101) in which a refrigerant (R) is circulated; an absorbing-solution circulation system (102) which is connected to the refrigerant circulation system (101), and in which an absorbing solution (A) for absorbing the refrigerant (R) is circulated; a condenser (103) for condensing the refrigerant (R) in the refrigerant circulation system (101) and when so doing causing heat to be released from the refrigerant (R); an evaporator (104) for evaporating the refrigerant (R) in the refrigerant circulation system (101) and when so doing causing heat to be absorbed by the refrigerant (R); an absorption unit (105) for causing the evaporated refrigerant (R) to be absorbed by the absorbing solution (A) in the absorbing-solution circulation system (102); and a recovery unit (106) for evaporating the absorbed refrigerant (R) from the absorbing solution (A) in the absorbing-solution circulation system (102). In the recovery unit (106), a heating means (112) for heating the absorbing solution (A) is provided. The heating means (112) performs heating using the decomposition exotherm generated by decomposing nitrous oxide.
