Abstract:
A heavy duty pneumatic tire (1), the weight of which is reduced without reducing the durability of the beads, is provided with a tread (2), a pair of side walls (3), a pair of the beads (4), and clinch sections (5) which extend from the side walls (3) to the beads (4). Concave surfaces (21), with which convex surfaces (22) formed on the outer ends of rim flanges (30) in the radial direction can engage, extend on the outer surfaces of the clinch sections (5) in the circumferential direction. The ratio (R1/R2) of the curvature radius (R1) of the concave surfaces (21) to the curvature radius (R2) of the convex surfaces (22) of the rim flanges satisfies the relationship of 1.7 ≤ R1/R2 ≤ 3.9. The ratio (D1/R2) of the depth (D1) of the concave surfaces to the curvature radius (R2) of the convex surfaces satisfies the relationship of 0.05 ≤ D1/R2 ≤ 0.09. Both the curvature radius (R1) of the concave surfaces (21) and the curvature radius (R2) of the convex surfaces (22) are respectively equal to the curvature radii of circular arcs in a cross-section taken along a plane including the center axis of the tire.
