Abstract:
A high-carbon steel wire material having excellent wire drawability is provided. This high-carbon steel wire material comprises given components and has a structure which comprises pearlite and pro-eutectoid cementite, wherein the areal proportion of the pearlite in the whole structure is 90% or greater, the pro-eutectoid cementite has a maximum length of 15 µm or less, and the concentration difference between the average Si concentration of inner portions of the pro-eutectoid cementite phase and the maximum Si concentration of inner portions of the ferrite phase which constitutes the lamellar structure of the pearlite is 0.50-3%.
