Abstract:
The present invention is a magnesium alloy material which is composed of a substrate that is formed of a magnesium alloy and a coating film that is formed on the substrate surface, and which is characterized in that: the coating film contains magnesium hydroxide and an Mg-Al system layered double hydroxide represented by formula below; the material structure of the magnesium alloy of the substrate is composed of a magnesium matrix and a compound that contains at least one solute element; and the average particle diameter of the compound is 4.0 μm or less. The magnesium alloy material according to the present invention enables the formation of a coating film that has high corrosion resistance improving effect in comparison to conventional magnesium alloy materials.
