Abstract:
Provided are a humidity control member capable of adsorbing and desorbing a large amount of moisture, and a method for manufacturing the humidity control member. A humidity control member containing a carrier and a silica porous body having an average pore diameter of 1 nm or above, wherein the humidity control member has an alkali metal element content of 0.001 wt% to less than 1.0 wt%. A method for manufacturing a humidity control member including steps (1), (2), and (3). Step (1): A dispersion medium and a silica porous body having an average pore diameter of 1 nm or above are mixed, and a slurry is obtained. The alkali metal element content, relative to the solid weight, of the slurry is brought to 0.001 to 1 wt%. Step (2): The slurry obtained in step (1) is applied on a carrier. Step (3): The dispersion medium is removed from the carrier onto which the slurry obtained in step (2) had been applied, and a humidity control member including the silica porous body and the carrier is obtained.
