Abstract:
A motor generator (6) and an electric power converter (18) are driven by an engine (2) to supply electric power to electrical storage device (16). An ECU (22) causes the engine (2) to start when the SOC of the electrical storage device (16) becomes lower than a first threshold value, and causes the engine (2) to stop when the SOC becomes greater than a second threshold value higher than the first threshold value. However, while the vehicle is at stop, the ECU (22) causes the engine (2) to stop when the SOC becomes higher than a third threshold value that is higher than the first threshold value and lower than the second threshold value.
