Abstract:
Provided is an IC-integrated optical polarization division multiplexing IQ optical modulator which improves resistance to environment temperature. An IC-integrated optical polarization division multiplexing IQ optical modulator module (500) according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is equipped with: optical polarization division multiplexing IQ optical modulators (200) obtained by layering two IQ optical modulators, for an X polarization channel and for a Y polarization channel, in parallel with one another on a chip, said two IQ optical modulators each being an optical polarization division multiplexing IQ optical modulator (201X, 201Y) which has a nested MZ optical waveguide having an I channel optical modulator which has an I channel optical modulation region and a Q channel optical modulator which has a Q channel optical modulation region; an IC chip (502); eight or more high-frequency signal pads (211XIa, 211XIb, 211XQa, 211XQb, 211YIa, 211YIb, 211YQa, 211YQb) which are connected to a high-frequency wire and are arranged in the extension direction of the I channel optical modulation region and the Q channel optical modulation region in each of the two IQ optical modulators; and two or more thermal compensation pads (511a, 511b) which are connected to the high-frequency wire and are not connected to the eight or more high-frequency signal pads, and are arranged between the high-frequency signal pads and the end surface of the chip in the direction in which the high-frequency signal pads are arranged.
