The purpose of the present invention is to provide an image-capturing device, an image-capturing method, and a program with which a user can easily select a frame of a video to be extracted as a still image. An image-capturing device according to a first aspect of the present invention comprises: an orientation detection unit that detects an orientation of the image-capturing device with respect to a direction of gravitational force; a video-taking unit that takes a video; and a control unit. The control unit has a first video mode in which the control unit generates a video file of a video taken by the video-taking unit and can extract a still image from the video file. In the first video mode, when the orientation detection unit determines that the orientation of the image-capturing device with respect to the direction of gravitational force has changed, the control unit divides the video to generate a first video and a second video, and the control unit stores a first video file of the first video in a first folder in a storage unit, and stores a second video file of the second video in a second folder in the storage unit.
