Abstract:
This image display device (10) comprises a display panel (110), a space section (40), an illumination unit (201), a control unit (80), and an illuminance sensor (90). The display panel (110) can switch between an image display mode for displaying an image, and a transparent mode in which the back-surface side is in a transparent state when viewed from the front. The space section (40) and the illumination unit (201) are positioned on the back-surface side of the display panel (110), and the illumination unit (201) irradiates the space section (40) with illumination light. The control unit (80) controls the illumination unit (201). The illuminance sensor (90) detects the illuminance around the image display device (10). When the display panel (110) is operating in the transparent mode, the control unit (80) performs an illumination control to cause the illumination unit (201) to discharge illumination light having a brightness that corresponds to the result of detection by the illuminance sensor (90).
