Abstract:
Provided is an image irradiation device configured to project a display image on an image display panel, wherein the formation of unnecessary images in a region surrounding the display image due to the generation of stray light can be effectively suppressed. A plurality of columnar protrusions 52 are formed on an inner surface 50a of a housing 50 in which an image generation unit that generates a display image is accommodated; and second columnar protrusions 54 which are lower in height than the plurality of columnar protrusions 52 and are formed therebetween. Due to this configuration, even if sunlight or some of the light emitted from the image generation unit, etc. reaches the inner surface 50a of the housing 50, this light that has reached is reflected multiple times between the plurality of columnar protrusions 52 as well as between the plurality of columnar protrusions 52 and the second columnar protrusions 54, and thus the intensity of such light is effectively attenuated. Due to this configuration, the ratio of reflected light is decreased, and thus the generation of stray light is effectively suppressed.
