Abstract:
An image picking-up system is provided with a first noise reduction unit (114)
that extracts a local region including notable pixels and adjacent pixels from
a video signal output from a CCD (1) and carries out edge preserving type applicable
noise reduction processing for the notable pixels in the local region to eliminate
influence of edge components, a noise estimate unit (115) that dynamically estimates
a noise amount of the notable pixels on the basis of the notable pixel value reduced
in noise by the first noise reduction unit (114), and a second noise reduction
unit (116) that carries out noise reduction processing for the notable pixels
on the basis of the notable pixel value reduced in noise by the first noise reduction
unit (114)and the noise amount estimated by the noise estimate unit (115).
