Abstract:
Provided are an image pickup device and an image pickup device control method configured so that when carrying out image pickup in which zooming is performed during exposure, exposure drop does not occur in trails. The image pickup device comprises: a zoom control unit that controls driving of a zoom lens drive unit; and an image pickup control unit that continuously picks up a subject image and acquires a plurality of image data items. The zoom control unit and the image pickup control unit are simultaneously controlled so that: continuous image pickup is carried out in synchronization with changing the zoom factor of a lens in a prescribed direction (t12-t13, t16-t17); zoom driving during each image pickup of the continuous image pickup is performed in a direction opposite to the prescribed direction (t13-t14, t17-t18); and image pickup is carried out so that some of the zoom positions during exposure overlap.
