Abstract:
In an image pickup apparatus provided with a frame buffer, high-speed image pickup is performed a plurality of times consecutively.
An image pickup element is provided with: a buffer, an image generation unit, a management unit, and an output unit. The image generation unit generates images when an available storage space of any of a plurality of regions in the buffer exceeds a predetermined threshold. The management unit causes, among the plurality of regions, a region having an available storage space exceeding the predetermined threshold to hold the images as buffering images. The output unit retrieves and outputs the buffering images from the buffer in the order in which the buffering images have been held.
