Abstract:
An image recording method including: a step in which an image is obtained by applying a preprocessing fluid including water and a resin X and ink including water and a colorant, onto a resin base material A that has a specified distortion rate and has tensile force applied thereto; a step in which the image is heated to a temperature Td and dried; and a step in which the image is cooled to a temperature Tr. The image recording method has a σtotal of no more than 40 kgf/cm2, calculated by formula (1). E (Td) is the elastic modulus for the resin X at temperature Td, ε (Td) is the expansion coefficient of the resin base material A under specified conditions, E (T) is the elastic modulus for the resin X at an image temperature T during the cooling step, αr (T) is the coefficient of linear expansion for the resin X at temperature T, and αs (T) is the coefficient of linear expansion for the resin base material A under specified conditions.
