Abstract:

The present invention provides an Internet Protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) and a method and apparatus for provisioning a service in the IMS. The Internet Protocol multimedia subsystem comprises: a service support system, configured to provision provisioning information required by various network elements during provisioning of a designated IMS service to a provisioning transaction management entity; the provisioning transaction management entity, configured to store provisioning information and provide the provisioning information to the network elements during provisioning; and the network elements, configured to directly or indirectly request provisioning information from the provisioning transaction management entity and perform information interaction between the network elements to realize service provisioning. By means of the technical scheme provided in the present invention, the technical problems, such as low provisioning efficiency, poor reliability, and service expansion inconvenience, caused by the greater quantity of network elements involved in the existing IMS service provisioning process are solved, so that performance of an IMS network is improved.
