Description:
INFANT HAMMOCK Technical Field The present invention relates to a practice hammock developed to lay down infants of 0 to 3 ages. Thanks t o a s pecial c ase, t his r eadily f oldable h ammock c an b e carried easily.

Background of Invention Although infant carriages used to carry infants of 0 to 3 ages can be folded, they cause to difficulties while they are carried in buses, while moving up/down in staircases, and in travels, since they are heavy and occupy huge volumes. It is difficult to carry such carriages to daily places such as family visits, picnics, seashores, etc. In such circumstances, parents require such a bed allowing them to securely and protectively lay down their infants and a bed that is carried easily.

Brief Description of Invention The present infant hammock for 0-3 age infants developed for such circumstances is designed to substitute the corresponding means of the prior art, with characteristics making its use substantially easier. One of such characteristics is that the part where the infant is laid has a thickness to carry the infant, in that the upper part is made from a thin tulle material to provide protection against external effects such as flies and dust and to allow the infant to breath easily, and in that the part carrying the infant with a demountable frame is made of a profile keeping the infant apart from the ground.

Brief Description of Figures Figure 1 is a general view of the present hammock.

Figure 2 is a view of the mechanism providing the movement of the present hammock.

Brief Description of Reference Numbers in Figures 1. Tulle ; 2. steel wire ; 3. vertical swinging leg ; 4. coupling joint between the vertical swinging leg and horizontal swinging leg ; 5. horizontal swinging leg ; 6. chock; 7. leg folding joint; 8. hook; 9. hanger; 10. stopper; 11. upper joint; 12. hammock fixation element; 13. thick canvas; 14. Velcro cloth ; < 15. Velcro piece fastening the cloth to canvas; and 16. Zipper.

Detailed Description of Invention The device under the present invention is composed mainly of two parts, namely from a supportive frame and hammock.

The supportive frame consists of vertical swinging legs (3) providing the balance w hen o pened I eft-and rightwards; leg folding joint (7) opening the vertical swinging legs ; the horizontal swinging leg (5) laid down to the ground in a horizontal position; a coupling joint of the vertical swinging leg and horizontal swinging leg (4) coupling the horizontal and vertical swinging legs together so that they can be opened; a chock (6) preventing the contact of the frame with the ground and fastening the hammock in the place of erection; a hook (8) and hanger (9) allowing the hammock to be hung to the frame; and the supportive frame having an upper joint (11) carrying the hanger to which

the hook, the hammock is hung thereon, is fastened and allowing the vertical swinging legs (3) to be opened/closed ; steel strings (2), with certain distances in between, configured so as to be opened/closed to accommodate the infant; a thick canvas (13) fastened under these steel wires and a tulle (1) on the upper part of the hammock to allow an accommodated infant to breath easily.

The second part of the device under the present invention is the hammock part where an infant is to be laid down. This part comprises steel strings (2) with certain distances in between, configured so as to be opened/closed to accommodate the infant, and a thick canvas (13) fastened under these steel wires, whereas the upper part of the hammock is produced from a tulle (1) allowing a comfortable breathing underneath. The upper part of the hammock is made of two sections that can be opened to left and right. These two sections are connected together with a zipper (16). The steel strings employed in the present hammock are configured with a certain distance in between and are coupled in single conjunction points on the left and right so as to make a bed-like formation to accommodate an infant. A Velcro cloth is embodied within the bed-like formation where an infant is to be placed and is fastened to the thick canvas (13) underneath of an infant's laying position by means of Velcro pieces (14). There is further a fixation element (12) positioned between the steel string (2) and thick canvas (13) present in the lower portion of the hammock.

The most significant characteristic of the present invention is that the volume of the hammock expands when an infant is placed (a weight is positioned) within the hammock, thanks to the steel string system. Since the steel strings (2) are fastened to the canvas (1), they move and become strained under the influence of the infant's weight and its volume is widened. Since the force exerted on such steel strings (2) is eliminated with the removal of such weight, the volume is restored. This characteristic enhances the portability.

The subject hammock is also quite easily erected. For this operation, the vertical swinging legs (3) are revolved by the coupling joint (4) over 90

degrees until it settles into the horizontal swinging legs (5). The vertical swinging legs (3) a nd t he h orizontal swinging I egs (5) a re o pened w ith t he movement of the upper joint (11) until the leg folding joints (7) become parallel to each other. The hanger (9) fastened to the hammock is mounted to the hook (8) that is screwed to the upper joint (11). Thus the erection operation is completed.

The chock (6) on the horizontal swinging legs (5) fixes the hammock's movement. There are also stoppers (10) embodied on the tips of the legs to prevent any damage.
