In an ink jet printer and a head unit of the same, a plurality of printer heads having N-pieces of nozzles respectively, which are arranged in a sub-scanning direction at K-picture element intervals in predetermined resolution so that K/N has a value of irreducible fraction, are provided so that the nozzles face in a main scanning direction in accordance with the color of ink to be ejected, and stagger from one another by L-picture elements in the sub-scanning direction. Therefore, during one scanning operation in the main scanning direction of the printer heads, only one color of ink is recorded (deposited) on the same line on a member to be recorded. This can prevent a second color ink from being recorded before the first color ink has been dried, and enables a picture of a high quality to be printed.
