Abstract:
An inner magnetic shield material for color cathode ray tube that can be easily press worked, after working exhibiting satisfactory corrosion resistance comparable to that attained by blackening treatment, and that excels in corrosion resistance, not being detrimental to the sealing and degassing of cathode ray tube and can be produced at low cost. The inner magnetic shield material is comprised of a cold rolled steel sheet of 0.2 to 3 μm Ra surface roughness, wherein on at least one surface of the steel sheet, the “surface layer” constituting a surface of steel sheet defined as a depth of electron beam penetration upon irradiation with electron beams at an incident electron energy of 20 eV with the use of EDX analytical instrument has a composition containing 2 to 40 mass% Si, 2 to 45 mass% O, 0 to 50 mass% Na and the balance iron and impurities. The surface layer may further contain an organic resin consisting essentially of C and H, or C, H and O, or C, H, O and N. The mass ratio of organic resin to the sum of Si, O and Na is in the range of 0.001 to 0.1.
