Abstract:
Provided are: an insert capable of detecting with high sensitivity the tip of an insert such as a puncture needle; and a photoacoustic measurement device comprising this insert. The insert comprises: a puncture needle main body 15a having an opening 15b in the tip thereof and being formed in a hollow shape having at least the tip section thereof that is inserted inside a subject; an optical fiber 14 provided along the length direction of the puncture needle main body 15a, in a hollow section 15c of the puncture needle main body 15a; and a photoacoustic wave generating unit 16 provided in a light-emitting end 14a of the optical fiber 14 arranged on the tip side of the puncture needle main body 15a, said photoacoustic wave generating unit absorbing light emitted from the light-emitting end 14a and generating photoacoustic waves. The surface roughness of the light-emitting end 14a of the optical fiber 14 is greater than the surface roughness of the light-incident end of the optical fiber.
