Abstract:
A transfer film produced by forming a release layer and a protective layer on a plastic film, pattern-wise applying a water-soluble coating layer to the protective layer, subsequently successively forming a thin insulating metal film and a thin metal oxide film, forming a water-resistant resin layer on the thin metal oxide film, thereafter washing the resultant multilayer structure with water to remove the water-soluble coating layer and the thin insulating metal film, thin metal oxide film, and water-resistant resin layer superposed on the water-soluble coating layer while leaving those parts of the thin insulating metal film, thin metal oxide film, and water-resistant resin layer under which the water-soluble coating layer is not present, and then forming an adhesive layer. This transfer film has exceedingly high quality and does not suffer scratches or the peeling of the thin insulating metal film. It is excellent in appearance and durability and enables the transfer of a design having an excellent metallic luster.
