Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: an iron-based oxide magnetic powder which has good thermal stability and a small change in a radio wave absorption amount even in a high temperature environment, and is formed of ε-iron oxide particles in which a part of Fe sites is substituted with other metal elements; a radio wave absorber using the iron-based oxide magnetic powder; a powder compact using the iron-based oxide magnetic powder; and a production method thereof. [Solution] This iron-based oxide magnetic powder, which has good thermal stability and a small change in a radio wave absorption amount even in a high temperature environment, and is formed of ε-iron oxide particles in which a part of Fe sites is substituted with other metal elements, can be obtained by making, when coating a silicon oxide with a silane compound, phosphorus-containing ions coexist in a precipitate of iron hydroxide containing a substituted metal element produced by neutralizing an acidic aqueous solution containing trivalent iron ions and metal ions that partially substitute the Fe sites.
